Parents should encourage their children to get involved in cooking from an early age.
That is according to Naomi Richards, a life coach for children, who believes doing so will help little ones learn about food and where it comes from, with kids also being more likely to eat meals they have helped to prepare.
"Food preparation with a parent is also a great time to talk and share information," she added.
Ms Richards, who is known as The Kids Coach, noted that mums and dads can help improve their children's knowledge about food by discussing the different types of ingredients they are using when making a meal.
The expert went on to call on parents to make sure their little ones enjoy a balanced diet including plenty of fruit and vegetables.
"Their diet should also include protein, fat and carbohydrates and all the relevant vitamins and minerals," she added.
