One of the biggest challenges facing new parents is getting their little ones to nod off.
Mums and dads will be eager to get their babies into a bedroom routine so they are sleeping right through the night.
However, research by Mothercare has found that over 50 per cent of parents have taken their kids out for a car journey in order to tire them out and help them to doze off.
Indeed, mothers and fathers are on average covering more than 1,300 miles a year for this very reason.
Londoners use the method more than in any other part of the UK, driving 2,957 miles every 12 months, while people in the north-east (508 miles) rely on the practice the least.
Steve Abse, Director of Marketing from Mothercare, said he understands that parents face a number of challenges at bedtime.
"With our tried and tested experiment we can help calm bedtime stress, save time and save money for parents," he added.
