The UK is a nation made up of creatures of habit.
A survey carried out by Nationwide has discovered that 76 per cent of people sleep on the same side of the bed every night, while 69 per cent admit they value the importance of a daily routine.
Indeed, 28 per cent try to make as few changes as possible to their plans even if a disruption does occur.
Adrian Roberts, Head of ATMS and Branch Design at Nationwide, said the research confirms what many people already expected, that Britons like their days to have a certain structure to them.
"The truth is we like to do the same things and we tend to make the same decisions on a regular basis," he added.
Mr Roberts stated that regardless of whether or not this is a subconscious or conscious decision, it makes life much easier.
Getting the same amount of money out of an ATM, choosing the same holiday location and ordering the same drink in a bar are among the other activities that people frequently replicate.
