Active parents will make good role models for their kids.
This is the opinion of Laura Hamilton, TV presenter, host of adventure challenge game show Fort Boyard and former contestant on Dancing on Ice, who noted it can only be a good thing if little ones see their mums and dads taking exercise.
With the summer holidays approaching, mothers and fathers need to come up with a list of activities they can do with their offspring.
A recent survey by Argos found 37 per cent of families will be watching the Olympic Games, while 35 per cent will be glued to the European Championships.
However, 30 per cent of those questioned admitted they would like their family to be more dynamic in the pastimes they indulge in.
Ms Hamilton remarked parents should "always have something which is not only encouraging the children to be active, but also helps them learn how to be competitive".
She added events such as the Olympics can be recreated in backyards in order to have some fun.
