Nearly six-in-ten UK adults have failed to switch their internet provider for the past five years.
An investigation by broadbandchoices.co.uk discovered that only 42 per cent have changed who they get their internet services from.
Annual savings of up to £75 could be made if fixed-line broadband customers were to look around for the best deal.
Dominic Baliszewski, broadband expert at the comparison website, said: "People are used to shopping around for insurance, energy or even petrol, but being more switch-savvy with broadband could save households across the UK hundreds of pounds."
