Consumers are increasingly likely to benefit from special offers from retailers at present, an expert in the industry has revealed.
According to Richard Dodd, spokesman for the British Retail Consortium (BRC), companies are offering more deals to people in a bid to attract custom as the UK continues to struggle against the impact of the double-dip recession.
Mr Dodd explained that retailers have had no choice but to adapt their pricing strategies in recent times as consumers become more frugal with their cash and have subsequently become increasingly focused on the needs of their customers.
A study conducted by Which? recently established that people are having to increasingly rely on their disposable income in order to afford daily essentials such as food and energy as household bills continue to soar.
However, the BRC official indicated that price cuts are becoming more commonplace, with some 40 per cent of all groceries being purchased currently being bought on discount.
