UK adults are not doing enough to keep on top of their savings.
Research by National Savings and Investments (NS&I) discovered 16 per cent of people have lost track of investments and savings accounts.
More surprising considering the current economic climate is the fact that 40 per cent of individuals have yet to try to find out how much money they set aside in these holdings.
John Prout, Retail Customer Director at NS&I – which has over 26 million customers – said: "Even small amounts of money can help with the costs of day to day living, so it's important people keep a track of their savings no matter how much they've previously put away."
Some 28 per cent of those questioned admitted they have lost their account details, while 27 per cent struggle to keep on top of all the holdings they have opened in the past.
All Britons should get organised to make sure they are aware of how much money they have stored away in case their circumstances change.
