Firsts...
So many 'firsts' to look forward to.
Like breaking the news to family and friends – who'll be first to
hear? First scan and the very first photo of your baby. First kick
– when they let you know who's boss! And, who knows – first
cravings – could you really get to love ice cream with pickles?
Life's about to get even more hectic as reality sets in. What
about decorating the nursery? Choosing a name? Maternity and paternity leave?
And even bigger issues, like sorting out childcare and finance?
When it comes to finance, it's not just the early days that
cost. Before you know it, further education, a gap year, or even a
deposit on a first home could be on their wish list. Question is –
when that time comes, will you be ready to help them realise their
dreams?
At least £250 waiting for your baby!
The good news is, your baby will qualify for at least £250 from
the government to open and kickstart their Child Trust Fund
(CTF) account, to help give them a financial headstart at age
18. Once your baby has arrived, you'll need to register for Child
Benefit. Shortly after you've done this, you'll receive your baby's
CTF voucher by post from the government.
